The Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive

In early 2003, The European Union passed legislation known as Directive 2002/95/EC which restricts the use of six hazardous substances, including Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) in equipment such as computers, cell phones and consumer electronics equipment sold in Europe. The ban goes into effect in July of 2006, with some exceptions.

At Connor-Winfield, the transition to RoHS compliant manufacturing has been an environmentally driven program that was put into place over 4 years ago. As a global manufacturer, Connor-Winfield's components not only affect the United States markets, but worldwide markets, and our commitment to ensuring safe and compliant products has been an ongoing quality issue for our management and design engineers.

Connor-Winfield is quickly moving to ensure that all part numbers will be compliant as per the definitions and exemptions given in the directives before the July, 2006 deadline.

To verify compliance of an individual model number

RoHS compliance is specified on the datasheet for each individual product. To determine if a particular model is RoHS compliant, please review the latest version of the datasheet. The easiest way locate the most current datasheet is by searching for the model number in our datasheet search form at the bottom of the left column.
